The James Madison College offers a unique approach to undergraduate education. Its students select an interdisciplinary major that prepares them to become active and engaged citizens in their communities. The college’s six departments offer more than 60 courses of study. Students can choose from among 38 majors within the humanities， social sciences or natural sciences.
The MSU College of Law is the state's oldest law school and one of the nation's largest - with nearly 700 students enrolled in fall 2019. It has four academic divisions – business and technology； criminal justice； intellectual property； and international – and it houses the Walter J. Ong Center for Professional Formation where new lawyers can earn continuing legal education credits.
This university college focuses on educating teachers for K-12 classrooms across the nation and world. It helps prepare teachers through its many different departments including instructional design and technology； literacy， language and culture； mathematics； music； physical education； and special education. Teachers who graduate from this university receive a rigorous， high-quality educational experience designed to inspire life-long learning both inside and outside the classroom.
Students interested in researching agriculture， food systems， community development， natural resources， public policy and related topics will find a home in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. This college has five departments——agribusiness； animal science； forestry； fisheries and wildlife； and agricultural， food and resource economics——and two research centers——the Michigan State University Extension and the Michigan Agricultural Experiment Station， which are focused on enhancing knowledge and solving problems for farmers
