普渡大学本科怎么样?
UW-Platte formly a midwest engineering school. The campus feel is very middle American, like you are in an old farmhouse that has seen better days but still holds its own history and charm. There's not much to the campus outside of the original buildings so it can get pretty boring especially if there isn’t much going on. I was also disappointed with all of the red brick because it made everything look very dingy and worn down.
The good news is that we have this huge beautiful park right behind our new dorms where we go hiking and biking everyday (the park has over 40 miles of trails)! And there's always tons of events at the Memorial Union so you won't get bored. Plus there are tons of restaurants, shops and coffee places around town too(I definitely don't recommend trying to drive anywhere near campus).
Academically the engineering programs here offer lots of opportunities for research and internships which will help you stand out when you graduate. But as someone who didn't really know what she wanted to do until her junior year, I felt very lost my first two years here and wasn't sure how I would be able to choose a major since every one seems to say they are the best. Luckily, UW is very liberal with their course requirements and I was easily able to create my own perfect pathway from A to B to C to D and graduate with no problem.
In terms of academics, UW is very rigid about following curriculum rules and regulations(especially during the COVID-19 pandemic)and any deviation from the norm could mean a delay in graduating or having to pay extra costs. So if you're someone who likes flexibility and freedom, then this might not be the place for you. However, the professors are easy to get along with and willing to work with you if you show interest and dedication to your studies, while making sure you meet necessary requirements.
At the end of the day, UW is a great school with high caliber teachers and students. It'll definitely shape you into the person you want to become whether you're a science nerd, humanities studier或者 an artist. You just can'
